Thank You!

Along we stood to play alone, we knew it would be tough but still we were clearly there because of you people. In the end, winning and losing doesn’t matter as much as the support that we got, does. We thank you for believing in what we believe and we thank you for making your choices freely.

As we mentioned earlier, this is not a party, this is a movement and it won’t end here. We believe in our principles, doesn’t matter how long it takes to execute a change. But it is our right to be true and support the right. I hope all those people who are with us in this movement understand that though we didn’t win but we showed that we can. And that is all that matters. That little change ignited in your minds is our victory!

Finally, we congratulate all the elected people and we hope that they will perform their duties and keep their promises.

We only expect a better future!

SOP (Statement of Purpose)

Statement Of Purpose

Introduction
I am Sushant Gupta contesting for the post of SAC Representative. More importantly I am standing independently which means that I am not taking any support from either side for collecting votes.

Students Affairs Council
SAC is the highest body of the institute where all the major problems of IIT are raised by the students in front of the Director and Deans. This body deals with the problems of student importance, ranging from the rates of rickshaw wala's, the library timings to the issue of internet speed.

SAC Representative

The job of a SAC Representative is to raise the concerns and problems of students and bring to notice the related issues to the administration of the institute. In many cases he also acts as a defense in favour of students. Thus he must have the ability to wisely and forcefully argue with the will power to take initiatives and get work done in time.

My Experience
Many post holders in the hostel keep crying and the excuses they give for not getting their work done are ‘the dean didn't give permission’ or else ‘the warden didn't pass the bill.’ But in similar situations I have taken initiatives without holding any post and have shown results. To get things done, you don't need a position of responsibility, though by holding a position you can do a lot more.

Studio
I along with my friend took an initiative at the institute level to open a facility of studio at SAC. As usual the dean denied all our proposals point blank. So we bought all the equipment ourselves and with our persistence and sheer effort the authorities were finally convinced to give permission for our work.

You might know that this job of opening a studio is the work of the PHS Secretary but when he showed little interest, we took the matter in our hands and got it done.

Robotics

I have been a member of the National Robotics Champion Team in first year, and while being the PAHS representative of the hostel, I have organized workshops for Robotics at the institute level. These efforts have been successful in spreading the culture of Robotics in IIT Delhi.

Hostel Achievements

Though winning prizes for the hostel does not suffice a good SAC Rep, still as it is a tradition by most of the candidates to brag what they have done for the hostel(though they may not have done anything relevant for the post!) I also need to clarify that I have a long list of Personal achievements for the hostel. Just for an example, while I was the PAHS Rep, my entry for the Category A Photography Competition got the second prize for the hostel, while the second entry came third. This year again my entry got the Third prize. In a hostel deprived of good RCA results, there is at least one club that performs consistently better!

My Plans

I plan to start a website for the students, providing discussion forums and information regarding various issues related to IIT, whether it be mess food to which course is of which kind. I have been associated with various website projects, one of them being my personal website www.sushantgupta.com, and I have the skills to design such a site myself. It is really not so tough!

I also plan to improve the Bus System of IIT, and the age old problem of Internet Speed. I also would work at providing better facilities of Hair Cutting in IITD campus.

I would try my best to convey your problems and ideas to the authorities, and also try my level best to make my point heard and get my work done.

Appeal

I request to you that before voting please consider which candidate has worked how much and what is his contribution at the institute level because this post represents no hostel but the student community as a whole.

So I would request you to vote for a candidate who can do justice to an important post like SAC Representative.
Choose your representative by being free and independent!

Our Stand

It appears that in past sometime this movement has enraged many people due to various reasons. One which is very clear and apparent is that these people do not want anything to change. It’s shocking to know that even those who are well aware of the internal turmoil during this period and have personally suffered it are also in delusion of ‘the present system is fine’ or are just misleading other people.

First we would like to make it clear that NPA is not party. We firmly believe that there should be no need of any party to elect our best representatives. But still we stand for the support of the right candidates irrespective of the parties they belong, which are active in the hostel and irrespective of the course they are pursuing, be it B.Tech, M.Tech or PHD. We assure that NPA will participate in elections with all fairness and will come forward for those deserve.

Again to be clear we are not opposed to the present format of democratic election of candidates but what we are against is the way they are put up to be elected. Not in every case there is a need and/or situation of X Vs Y and we are well aware how these situations are created. We are against this sick strategy.

We thank people for their concern about what our agenda is and what we will do. We understand that good idea must be endorsed by a force and a plan. In a few words, if it is to be put, our agenda is not to make promises in thin air and whatever you have promised, you do it.

For further clarifications, you all are welcome!

What Is NPA?

So what is this NPA Movement all about?

In the recent times we all must have witnessed the chaos and tension going on in the lives of our hostel mates over trivial issues of cynical and egocentric politics. Many of us might not be familiar with these circumstances, especially first year, but these incidents happen inevitably every single year, when people are promised posts, bribed, brainwashed and put against their own people. Though its hard to realize but it all comes down to the greed and clash of egos in between seniors of 3rd and 4th year and the whole hostel is victimized in the process.

NPA Movement is started by the people who were once drifted to this filthy politics in their first year, only to realize the egoistic intentions and dirt in the minds of the people who 'controlled it'. Most of us then and there decided to leave it and since have been proposed many 'offers' directly or indirectly to get back into it and sometimes intentionally dragged into matters without consent. No wonder these days we are contacted often by the godfathers of the game.

Our ideology: Whenever decision making power comes into the hands of a few individual representing different sects and views, depravity results. Monopoly of any kind absolutely leads to corruption. There is no exception to it. And so we believe that the authority to make decisions should not be like a system of dictatorship but rather should be the responsibility of a group of individuals who will direct the respective representatives of the house. As we all would agree that there are certain parties within the hostel so this group will include members from all the divided parties to give their view points and bring the issues of concern for the benefit of everyone. This system will result in fairer decisions and policies.

No system can be perfect, we know that but if we can make it better then there is no harm in changing for what is good. It must be very clear that we are not biased and influenced by any party or group. This is our own initiative and we don't expect total change in the rigid minds but we are here to express the thinking of the radical minds.
